Alternative Manhole Platform System installed at Wesham Hospital
Burdens have recently supplied the new Alternative Manhole Platform System (AMPS) to a site at Wesham Hospital. The innovative new manhole platforms were quickly and easily installed and very well received by John Riley Civil Engineering. “We John Reilly Civil Engineering have now used the AMPS product on a number of sites and have found some very useful benefits”.
What is AMPS?
AMPS is a unique manhole platform which can easily be installed into concrete manholes providing a viable alternative to traditional benching. The platform is made from pre-fabricated GRP which can be used as part of a storm water drainage system. The hinged hatches are opened in order to gain access below.
Why should you opt for AMPS?
AMPS provides a number of benefits in terms of civil engineering works and health and safety. By removing the requirement of concrete benching the manhole diameter is reduced improving health and safety and reducing the construction costs. The environmental benefits of this system over traditional manholes are evident. Excavated spoil is significantly reduced for example: with a 1500mm diameter manhole at 3m deep, the excavation would mean a saving of 1.5 x 1.5 x 3 = 6.75 cu.m saving. Approximately 2 tonnes of carbon can be saved per installation!
