Burdens’ Scottish region has been involved with a number of schemes since 1998 where our Muir of Ord depot became the supplier to James Glover, a consultant for Hydro schemes. The first contract involved Hep 30 on a renewal scheme for Carrour Estates.

Following on from this first venture we then supplied several schemes with ductile iron pipes and fittings the largest involving James was 800mm pipeline for the Ardhattan Estates on the shores of Loch Etive in Argyll this was installed by MAM contracting from Crief.

In 2009 we supplied 450mm polyethelene for Glenfernet estate  and 560mm P.E. for Glamis Estate, utilising James expertise and connections with Green Highland Renewables coupled with MAM’s fitting capability we have supplied 600mm ductile iron pipe for the Roryere scheme and 400mm P.E. pipe for the Roy Bridge scheme in the last 2 years.

Hydroplan of Dorset are major consultants and design engineers to the Hydro industry we have been involved with them and their contractor D.A. Mac Donald of Lochgilphead on several large diameter schemes, the major one was at Loch Merkland which is in the far north up in Sutherland, this contract involved 1,200mm diameter P.E.  pipe, we are presently supplying 1,100mm P.E. pipe for the scheme at Glenfalloch which is within the Lomond National Park, it is an indication of how these schemes fit into the countryside that there are 3 with full planning permission within the National Park that will be built over the next 2 years.

Our biggest contract to date is the Alt Fion contract on the Isle of Jura this has involved 1,200mm P.E. pipe for the low pressure section of the pipeline  and 1,200mm Ductile Iron pipe for the high pressure Section, this scheme is for John Lithgow who owns the estate and the contractor is George Mc Naughton and son of Lochgilphead our supply partners on this contract are G.P.S. for the polyethelene and Saint-Gobain for the ductile iron pipe.
