Burdens’ Scottish region has been involved with a number of schemes since 1998 where our Muir of Ord depot became the supplier to James Glover, a consultant for Hydro schemes. The first contract involved Hep 30 on a renewal scheme for Carrour Estates.Following on from this first venture we then supplied several schemes with ductile iron pipes and fittings the largest involving James was 800mm pipeline for the Ardhattan Estates on the shores of Loch Etive in Argyll this was installed by MAM contracting from Crief.

Burdens has entered an alliance with pumping systems manufacturer Pumpac Ltd to offer a design, supply, installation, commission, and service package (or any of these in isolation) for customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

 Manhole design and construction has basically remained unchanged for many years. However, specifiers, designers and contractors now have to consider various elements throughtout the manhole construction process; including build quality, speed of construction, health and safety issues and water tightness.

Duktus manufacture an extensive range of ductile iron pipe and fittings that will satisfy most standard pipe requirements. However, Duktus have a unique positive locking restrained joint system (BLS®/VRS®-T) and a cement mortar coating system (ZMU®) for ductile Iron pipe which can offer significant advantages both in terms of as laid cost and technical solutions.

For the past two years, Burdens Utilities has been the logistic partner of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water under an agreement that runs until 2015. The partnership is administered by NRG2, a joint-venture company between Radius Systems and Burdens to cater for the supply and distribution needs of the UK’s utility infrastructure market. NRG2 is one of the leading companies in this field, with a turnover standing at well over £300 million. The alliance offers many benefits.

The primary application of flap valves is for surface water drainage associated with rivers, estuaries and sea water outfalls to prevent reverse flow conditions. They can also be used on final effluent outfalls for sewage treatment plants to prevent flood damage within the works.

Burdens Cardiff are pleased to have been able to supply Alun Griffiths Contractors Ltd with a new range of MK2 underground structural chambers to the new stadium development for Cardiff City Football Club. The development involves the realignment of various traffic signal junctions that required a twin wall structural chamber solution. The IDS MK2 proved itself ideal for this sort of application.
