After beginning our relationship with a relatively new customer in late, they secured the earthworks and excavations package at Woodland Heights, a development of 148 luxury homes in Derbyshire.
The scheme had various design challenges; one critical element was 15 soil reinforced walls, using both segmental block and steel facing systems. The Burdens Geotechnics team introduced several options to the client, and we progressed a preferred supplier solution. Their comprehensive design service and on-site support, right from the early stages through to completion, made it an easy decision for our customer.
The Burdens Geotechnics team went on to provide solutions for piling platforms (Geogrid), protection for surrounding streams (silt fences), balancing ponds requiring headwalls, as well as geosynthetic clay liners, gabion baskets and mattresses. Finally, pre-seeded erosion control blankets were supplied for an aesthetic finish, to help the scheme blend into the lavish setting.
Burdens also supplied a supporting package of civils materials from stock.
A fantastic example of value engineering at its best!
